How to create monitors, cluster your devices and have views over several sites

This guide will walk you through the process of creating custom monitors to organize and view your devices across multiple sites within your account.

Getting Started

Begin by navigating to the left-hand corner of your dashboard and selecting the account you want to work with. This ensures you're managing the correct account's devices and settings.

Accessing the Monitors Section

Once you've selected your account, scroll down the left-hand side menu to find the Monitors section. If this is your first time creating monitors, you'll notice that no monitors are currently set up.

Creating Your First Monitor

To create a new monitor, click the Create a Monitor button located in the right-hand corner of the screen.

Setting Up Monitor Details

When creating your monitor, you'll need to provide the following information:

Monitor Name: Give your monitor a descriptive name (e.g., "Test Monitor")

Description: Add a brief description explaining the monitor's purpose (e.g., "Monitor to show all test devices")

Device Selection: Choose which devices you want to include in this monitor by selecting them from the available list

This feature is particularly useful for organisations with multiple sites and multiple meters per site within a single account. It allows you to create different monitor views across various sites and device groupings.

Finalising Your Monitor

After configuring your monitor settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit to create your monitor.

Understanding Your Monitor Dashboard

Once created, your new monitor will display an aggregated view of all selected devices. The dashboard provides comprehensive information including:

  • Device leak detection and sizing
  • Flow measurements
  • Volume data
  • Associated costs

Downloading Data

All monitor data is downloadable for external analysis or reporting purposes. Look for the download option within your monitor view.

Filtering Monitor Data

You can refine your monitor view by using the filtering functionality:

  1. Click the funnel icon in the right-hand corner of the monitor view
  2. Select specific devices to focus on particular data sets
  3. Layer multiple selections to compare different device performances

Note that if no data is available for your selected time period or devices, the system will display "no data found" for that period.

Advanced Filtering and Layering

The system allows you to build complex views by layering different device selections:

  • Start with one device to establish a baseline
  • Add additional devices to compare performance
  • Remove devices to focus on specific problem areas or high-performing units

This layered approach helps you identify patterns, detect anomalies, and understand the relationship between different devices across your sites.

Best Practices

Organise by Purpose: Create monitors based on specific needs such as site location, device type, or performance criteria.

Use Descriptive Names: Clear naming conventions help team members quickly identify the right monitor for their needs.

Regular Review: Periodically review your monitors to ensure they still serve your operational needs and adjust device selections as necessary.

Conclusion

Custom monitors provide powerful tools for organising and analysing your device data across multiple sites. By creating targeted views of your devices, you can more effectively track performance, identify issues, and make data-driven decisions about your operations.

Start by creating your first monitor following the steps outlined above, and gradually build additional monitors as your monitoring needs become more sophisticated.
